Infertility
an unexpected setback on your path to motherhood
Receiving an infertility diagnosis and facing difficulties in conceiving can be an incredibly challenging and emotionally distressing experience. It can shatter the expectations and dreams of becoming a parent that you may have had for so long. Infertility can evoke a range of emotions, including sadness, frustration, anger, and a sense of loss. It can also lead to feelings of inadequacy or a questioning of one's identity, especially if parenthood has been a significant part of their life goals.
The process of trying to conceive and unforeseen obstacles can create an overwhelming sense of uncertainty about your future. The dreams of starting a family may suddenly feel out of reach, and this can lead to a deep sense of grief and mourning for the potential child and family life that was envisioned.
Why infertility counseling?
Infertility counseling includes all aspects of infertility and those who have a desire to conceive. I provide personalized therapy to women deciding to become single mothers by choice; same sex and hetero couples, LGBTQ, and trans individuals navigate their journey to become parents via fertility treatments. Whether you’ve been diagnosed with unexplained infertility, are trying to conceive after a loss; need support through third party reproduction (egg/sperm/embryo donation, surrogacy); pondering the decision to live child-free; have experienced pregnancy or infant loss; or are pregnant and parenting; I am here to support you every step of the way.
What does infertility mean?
Infertility, in simple terms, happens when a woman who is trying to conceive finds it difficult to get pregnant or carry a pregnancy to term. Infertility can come in different forms and affect both women and men. It could be due to issues with ovulation, sperm quality, reproductive organ conditions, or a combination of factors. Sometimes, there might not even be a clear explanation, which can make it even more perplexing. It's important to remember that infertility does not define you as a person or your worth as a mother and there is support available.
