What is an intended parent Psychological evaluation?
Intended Parent (Psychoeducational) Evaluations are a required first step in starting your fertility process. During this consultation you will have the opportunity to address any psychological or emotional stressors related to your fertility treatment process. I’m on your side and will help identify areas to work on, so you can have an amazing pregnancy.
As part of your intended parent psychological evaluation, I help evaluate the suitability of donor and surrogate candidates.
I help ensure intended parents understand the commitment involved in the process of reproduction, as recommended by the Advanced Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). You’ll be able to openly address any emotional, psychological, and practical concerns related to your treatment process.
This includes: disclosure to family, friends, and coworkers; how to talk about the process with friends and family; donor selection; readiness to use a known or anonymous sperm, egg, or embryo donor; finding ways to talk with children about their conception; and how to stand bravely in your decision to parent on your own.
Meetings typically last up to an hour depending on the service rendered and don’t include time to prepare your written evaluation.
