What is an intended parent evaluation?

Intended Parent (Psychological) Evaluations are a required first step in starting your fertility process. During this consultation you will have the opportunity to address any psychological or emotional stressors related to your fertility treatment process.

I offer psychological consultation and support for Intended Parents that include(s):

  • Exploring different family building options

  • Support in choosing a donor, surrogate or gestational carrier

  • Working through expectations with extended family

  • Addressing disclosure to friends, family, and co-workers

  • Finding ways to talk with children about their conception

  • Understanding the issues involved in non-genetic or gestational family building and parenting

Intended parent consultation

In collaboration with fertility clinics, agencies, sperm banks and private parties, we screen, evaluate and explore the suitability of donor and surrogate candidates, ensuring they understand the commitment involved in the process of reproduction. You will have an opportunity to address any emotional, psychological, and practical concerns related to your treatment process. This includes: disclosure to your future child; how to talk about the process with friends and family; donor selection; readiness to use a known or anonymous sperm or egg donor; and important legal necessities. 

The cost of the evaluation includes the evaluation itself ($350) and the written report ($250). If your evaluation must be completed in less than 2 weeks, there is an additional $200 rush fee for a 7-day turn around or $500 for a 3-day turn around. 

The written report is then sent to the clinic you are working with and you are provided a copy for your records.

This service is available to anyone domestically or internationally in need of an evaluation as part of their fertility care.

  • No. The evaluation is a one time service that does not require you to be in therapy with me.

  • The cost of the evaluation includes the evaluation itself ($350) and the written report ($250). If your evaluation must be completed in less than 2 weeks, there is an additional $200 rush fee for a 7-day turn around or $500 for a 3-day turn around. 

  • No. This service is open to those living domestically or internationally. While it is not exclusive to those residing in California, I welcome my California constituents to reach out if they need an evaluation completed.
